“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”

SCHOOL + 2 FOR STUDENT SUCCESS!
Join a club!
Play a sport!
AHS AVID students are encouraged to do their best in class
AND participate in TWO extra-curricular activities!
Research shows that students who are involved in student activities such as clubs, organizations, and sports teams have a higher grade point average, better attendance record, lower dropout rate, and fewer discipline problems than students who are not involved.
Through extra-curricular involvement, students are connected to school and develop positive relationships with peers and mentors. Life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, goal setting, and self-discipline are acquired and students have an overall sense of belonging.
Involved students are successful students!
